My wife's resignation letter
My wife worked with me for a year or so as my office manager and she decided to stop working with me in July 2010. I needed a resignation letter from her for my records and she sent me two. The first was a simple one-liner. This was the second. This one probably wouldn’t be so funny if she wasn’t my wife … Resignation Letter 2

Share your favourite coffee shops and breakfast...
I created a shared map on Google Maps a while ago and added a favourite breakfast/coffee/lunch spot. It would be pretty handy if there were a few more locations on the map and I thought I’d share this map. Why not add your favourite spots if you are in the mood to share? Just been chatting to Gina about whether I should charge for speaking engagements. Tough one.

Aaron's first 3 years in 60 seconds
I decided to experiment with a new feature in Picasa 3.8 and created this little video tour of Aaron’s first (almost) 3 years: I haven’t worked out how to get it to show the photos in true chronological order but this is a pretty cool video nonetheless. By the way, this video cycles through over 1 000 photos of Aaron.

Aaron's first hair cut
We just got back from Aaron’s first hair cut. He was so good, no performances or crying. He sat on Gina’s lap for the duration and we just can’t keep our eyes off him. He looks like a completely different child.

Getting smarter in Cape Town with GetSmarter
I am wrapping up my trip to Cape Town to record video lectures and meet the GetSmarter team in preparation for the Internet and the Law course which I am convening in the next few months. It has been great to be back in Cape Town for a few days and I had a chance to spend some time with my brother, Asher, and his girlfriend, Megan. I basically spent about 2 days in meetings with GetSmarter teams...

Looks like Telkom is increasing ADSL line speed
We’ve been expecting Telkom to boost line speed for local ADSL users for a little while now and I just ran a speed test and got the following result: I don’t know if I am just getting a rare 4MB/sec rate for a change or if this is indicative of a line speed upgrade. Anyone else seeing faster transfer rates or is this just a good day for me?

And now we know ... theSQL is a girl!
We just got back from the 17/18 week scan and it looks like our little theSQL is a girl! Its slowly starting to dawn on me that I am going to have a daughter and Aaron will have a little sister. It occurred to me that we could try explain this to Aaron using the TV show Charlie and Lola. Aaron loves Charlie and Lola and he might just start to get used to the idea of a baby sister if we explain...

Evernote Support shouted at me
I did something which, in retrospect, was pretty stupid the other day. I was trying to think of ways to improve my Evernote experience which had become somewhat unsatisfactory due to the app’s sluggish performance on my Mac. In true form I decided to use Acrobat to resize all the larger PDFs in my Evernote data folder. My thinking was that smaller PDFs would reduce load times and stuff...
